Lavender Dog Care

Lavender Dog Care

Imagine starting the day with your dogs eagerly gathered around the Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffuser, watching as you add water, a few drops of True Lavender Collective Lavender Essential Oil, and switch it on. As the lavender aroma fills the air, everyone takes a deep breath. The room settles, calmness sets in, and you’re centered, ready to take on the day.

This peaceful ritual is how one of our customers begins each morning with his two dogs, and it’s one I relate to deeply. Lavender plays an equally essential role in my own routine with Juneau, my Australian miniature labradoodle. Together we’ve assembled some of our favorite practices you too can use to take advantage of lavender’s highly effective all-natural cleaning, soothing and insect-repelling properties.

Cleaning

To start, Juneau gets regular baths with our Lavender Pet Shampoo, which helps discourage fleas while keeping her coat shiny and smooth. Between baths, I freshen her up with our Lavender Pet Mist—in fact, this was the very first product I ever created, born from our own need for a natural deodorizer! I also rely on our Lavender Hydrosol for many all-natural cleaning needs. Produced during the steam distillation of lavender essential oil, this floral water contains all the same properties and attributes of lavender essential oil, but in a less concentrated form which makes it highly versatile. For Juneau, I’ll add a splash to her water bowl for fresh breath and use it to disinfect her toys and crate.

Skin Soothing

No matter the season, keeping paws, noses, and sensitive skin moisturized is essential for pets. Two of my favorites are our Lavender Healing Salve for deep, intensive moisture and the Lavender Healing Balm by Victoria’s Lavender for quick, everyday application. Both take advantage of lavender essential oil’s natural antiseptic and soothing properties. For Juneau, we often enjoy little “lavender spa paw treatments” at night, massaging in the Lavender Healing Salve and slipping on socks to ease irritation and dryness. I reach for the Lavender Healing Balm to calm hot spots, itches, or the occasional dry nose.

Protect

Flea season can be tough, so before our walks I spray both myself and Juneau with our Lavender Insect Repellant. The pleasant aroma and natural insect-repelling attributes of lavender have been indispensable to our outdoor activities, helping to ward off fleas, mosquitoes, black flies, gnats, and more. I appreciate how this product contains zero harmful chemicals, petroleum products, DEET, or artificial fragrances. To add extra protection against fleas and ticks, I apply a drop of our Lavender Essential Oil between her shoulder blades.
